Academic Intervention Guide

Academic Intervention:

Different or Extra Support for Students
Not Meeting Academic Expectations

It can be very concerning and even frustrating when a student is not meeting academic expectations for a teacher, a parent, and especially for the student. Often times, students who are struggling need additional academic support from your child’s teacher or a Response to Intervention teacher. Students can also benefit from an after-school program to keep them actively practicing needed skills.

Counseling and Behavior Support:

Small Group or Individual Therapy or
Personal Behavior Support Plans

Changes in your child’s behavior or the way they feel about themselves needs to be supported. While it is not always clear what causes a student to have behavior challenges or to have negative feelings about themselves, it is always important to provide an intervention that meets the child’s needs. Counseling at PS 280, counseling at a child guidance or mental health center, or a behavior intervention plan may be the solution to positive behavior and well being for your child.
